Mr. Hay’s subject for the evening will be “The Thrill of the Chase : Collecting Art in Our Time,” Concentrating on 18th century Rhode Island furniture, he’ll be discussing connoisseurship on his journey of discoveries.
John Hays began his career at Christie’s in 1983. He’s now recognized as one of America’s premier auctioneers. He also focuses on developing business strategies for top art collectors.
Mr. Hays has been instrumental in numerous record-breaking sales including the 1989 unprecedented sale of the Nicholas Brown Chippendale desk-and-book-case; the sale of “George Washington at Princeton” a seminal portrait by Charles Willson Peale and landmark sales from “The Collection of Peggy and David Rockefeller”~ to name a few.
