“Howard Stern Comes Again” was published in 2019. At the time it was a literary companion to his pop-culture radio show on Sirius-XM. The book is covered with Stern’s DNA; sex-capades, fart jokes and excerpts from some pretty remarkable interviews.
Seven years later the self-proclaimed ” King of All Media” is adding another page to his regal career. This time Stern’s ‘coming’ on HBO MAX. The cable network added 90 visual minutes of “The Howard Stern Show” to their list of On-Demand options.
“She” tuned in to see the premier today. As first day’s go he’s not really the “FNG” but ~ the 90 minutes felt long and weren’t as funny as the irrepressible radio show can be.
It may be the launch of this once weekly program served as a bit of window-dressing. The HBO-MAX intro to the “Howard Stern Show” felt like damage control designed to re-introduce the core-staff that survived a summer blood bath. When Howard resigned his Sirius-XM contract his production schedule was cut to one day a week so, in mid-July heads of familiar, on-air-staffers fell like dominos.
At his best, when he’s not on a political rant, the magna cum laude grad of Boston University can be brilliant. He’s thought provoking and often persuasive. His celebrity interviews are deliciously decadent. Common-touch conversations make his brand greater than it’s crude reputation. Howard Stern is an American icon. He’s created his own universe with a work-ethic that conquered his precarious path to success.
Aside from stellar professional accomplishments “The King” has matured. With years of psycho-therapy he’s developed an ability to ask nuanced questions and navigate emotionally compelling discussions with finesse. He’s also ridiculously, outrageously, hysterically, uniquely funny.
Today wasn’t one of Howard Stern’s best days. ~ “She’s” hoping the guy with the Midas touch will “Come Again” with more of the stuff that established and sustained his 50 year career.
