Boston Red Sox Partner, Linda Henry cultivates an environment of “yes” in some pretty unexpected places.
This week as our Boys of Summer are about to clinch a spot in post-season play Mrs.John Henry with partners from Green City Growers and Red Sox Executive Chef Ron Abell celebrated the 10th anniversary of “Fenway Farms” . The unconventional ‘Farm’ at Fenway Park is an unassuming 5,000 sq.foot space that delivers a crop of deliciousness in abundance.

According to Tom Caron, NESN’s Red Sox play-by-play announcer, the reclaimed roof-top grows with imagination, collaboration and a good deal of magic ~kinda like our home-town TEAM! Yes, there’s magic in the air.
Mrs. Henry’s knack for converting weeds to seeds of inspired entrepreneurialism have deep roots. The idea of a farm at Fenway sprouted from her enthusiasm for gardening as a child.

10 years ago Linda Henry imagined empty Hood Milk crates, plastic liners and a modest irrigation system supporting a Victory Garden at Fenway. Collaborating with Green City Growers the team of green-thumbers planted and tended seeds that have produced a crop of 55,000 pounds. The green idea is now a national model of sustainability in sports.
As Sara Rostampour and Chris Grallert of Green City Growers explained, the eco-system combines an organic compost with flowers to attract pollinators and a varied crop of herbs and veggies to sustain the verdant farm. The three-schemer sets up a victorious feast from April to October.

While the Sox are in winter-training at Jet-Blue Park the “farm-team” spends the pre-season brainstorming. Seeds of Red Sox optimism are sown and bloom in some pretty unexpected places throughout the Park’s atmosphere. From the parking lot to the Farm and on to the dug-out the spirt of “yes” fills the air 12 months a year.
