Written by internationally acclaimed author Alyson Richman, this spellbinding mystery shuttles readers around Harvard’s Cambridge campus then into a quaint bookshop in London and onto the Titanic.

The Harvard Campus Shuttle

Initially, the principal characters in “Missing” are introduced as students currently enrolled at Harvard. Richman co-op’s a transcendent approach to their spiritual awakening using the College’s Widener Memorial Library as a portal to an international plot-twist.  Like the characters, readers are transported between centuries, grave circumstances and explorations of the human-condition.

Richman summons the force of generational secrets into fluid alignment with a Gilded Age love story. The grad of Wellesley College conjures curiosities onto each of “Missing’s” 399 pages. Saturated with historical detail, timeless romance and an edge of skepticism, the novel is immediately, emotionally captivating.

Alyson Richman’s stories are written for thinking-gals who’ve read Elin Hilderbrand’s Nantucket news and want a little more substance.  Talent is the vehicle Richman uses to set up complex plot-lines steeped with love, loss and soulful reconciliation.  Refreshing for it’s absence of vulgarities the psychological pull of each charming chapter in this book is predicated on observance of social customs. Vestiges of civility are keys to understanding the mystery and misogyny of the tale as old as time.

Without the author’s biases, readers of this most novel novel are left to weigh the treasured and toxic values of traditions.

Set in the season between sense and sensibilities “The Missing Pages” is a joy to read and worthy of consideration for your night-table or winter book-club.
