On Wednesday, December 6th at 1:30 PM,  Boston Ballet will present a Sensory Friendly performance of ‘The Nutcracker!” 

This in-theater presentation welcomes guests who are neurodiverse, have sensory sensitivities, and need additional accessibility accommodations to enjoy the ballet.  Audience members will have access to a preview guide to prepare for the visit. Large Print program books will be available.

Abbreviated to 64-minutes this one-of-a-kind performance also has a 30-minute intermission.

Pre-show children’s activates begin at noon in the theater lobby.

This special Nutcracker performance will include traditional favorites like the growing tree, the battle between the Nutcracker and Mouse King, the snow scene, Mother Ginger, The Waltz of the Flowers , the Sugar Plum Fairy and more in an adapted format. During this presentation house-lights will not be completely dark,strobe lights and flashes will be eliminated and loud noises will be restricted.

Some audience chatter will be permitted and if audience members need to step-away during part of the ballet, they’ll be allowed back to their seats during the performance. Quiet spaces will be located in the VIP lounge located in the lower lobby of the Opera House.

Soothing devices, such as iPads will be permitted. *Headsets will be available for audio description listening.

**American Sign Language (ASL) ushers and interpreted announcements will be available.

The performance is designed to be fun for all.
