Walking towards TD Boston Garden you sense vibrations of sports legends that rocked the rafters. Hockey great, Bobby Orr’s bronze is the street-side gatekeeper of banners won over decades by World Champion Bruins and Celtics. Ascending the staircase into the coliseum of contests, fans fan the flames of ‘remember-when” and then you’re catapulted into the Garden, where the greatest-of-all-times have soared.
On a perfect late-summer night, with his daughter Annabel in the house, 67 year old Hans Zimmer delivered a performance that was championship-banner-worthy. Zimmer’s scores are legendary, he’s an icon in the music industry and his all-star teammates back-up his plays with athleticism.
A fusion of sound lead from wavy underwater incantations to gravity defying outer space odysseys.
Heart-pounding shifts transformed listeners into Aston-Martin drivers with the signature James Bond track before the Maestro’s final opus reminded the crowd, these Interstellar melodies are part of the Circle of Life.
500 projects have earned Hans Zimmer; 2 Oscars, 4 Grammy’s and 15 Golden Globes. His work has been nominated for 3 Emmy’s and a Tony. He’s won 2 Academy Awards for Best Original Score for his compositions of “Lion King” and “Dune”. And, the list goes on.
Like the Celts, like the B’s, when Zimmer’s in TD Garden he owns the Causeway. In 2007 The Daily Telegraph named him one of the top 100 Living Geniuses. His new-wave orchestrations prove the point. With scores that have become the soundtrack of our zeitgeist, his themes evoke the stuff of ‘remembering-when”.
Last night, Hans Zimmer filled Boston’s Garden with the breathless anticipation known to die-hard sports fans. The uniform of his team of heavy-hitters included wild hair, leather-mini-skirts, and rhinestone dappled instruments. Taking Zimmer’s orchestration to further heights a gossamer’ed aerialist mesmerized acoustical mortals.
Until the last play, the final score was a mystery but fans expected Zimmer’s team to deliver a performance that would shake the rafters ~ and they did. Percussion, Strings and Vocals electrified the air with sounds ricocheting like an Orr slap-shot or a Bird swish.
Like any big-league team the band that earned multiple standing ovations is on the road. Performances are scheduled venues in Toronto, Las Vegas, Denver and beyond.
Zimmer’s scores are more than soundtracks for the senses, they possess a transcendent quality, if you let them into your soul they’ll take you on a journey into other dimensions. His sound experiences are “remember-when” worth~ Go for the Soar!
