Linda McCartney inspired her husband Paul to write “Maybe I’m Amazed“, one of the Beatles most enduing love songs. It’s a lyrical-portrait of the simplest parts of life. Maybe that’s why the love song has been understood universally since 1970.
Linda McCartney’s life truly was amazing. In 1966 she was the first female photographer to have her work featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Her relaxed style was intimate and filled with joy.
Three years later she married Paul McCartney. The couple appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone, making Mary’s cover-girl debut as the first person ever to shoot a cover and be featured on it.
As the Beatles drifted apart Linda was a loving presence in her husbands creative life. She encouraged him to counter his sense of loss by reimagining his talents in a new band. WINGS took flight in 1971 with Linda playing keyboards and singing vocals.
Acknowledging Linda’s place in history Postmaster General David Steiner said the U.S. Post Office issued a Forever Stamp in Linda’s name to memorializes a woman who’s talents helped shape our culture. Through her lens she captured images that remind us ‘art endures and lifts us up universally.’ Speaking from the auditorium in MOMA, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, Steiner said “Linda lead with her heart, And that’s a legacy we hope these stamps capture.

On September 25th, 2026, Mary McCartney, hosted the unveiling of the stamp collection bearing her mom’s name. As the crowd settled in to hear her speak, a WINGS soundtrack filled the air with nostalgia.
Guests wondered how the U.S.Post Office would capture the essence of a woman who’s’ highlight reel could be a full-length feature film. Then, Mary McCartney spoke about her mom, the way only a daughter can.

“Mom lived life as a free-spirit with limitless optimism. She was a pioneer on many fronts, a woman ahead of her time.” Mary paused to collect her thoughts, then brushed away tears “Yesterday would have been mom’s birthday”.

Linda was more than Paul’s muse she was the center of a loving family who changed the world with images and advocacy. Her talents accessed the human condition through visual-lyrics.that continue to resonate with love. A steaming kettle, sunflowers, a black stallion all caught the imagination of Linda McCartney. In 1995 Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer. She died April 17th, 1998.
