Meghan Trainor, the glam, bubblegum-pink wrapped rocker, has grown-up, shaped-up and set-up ~ her life ~ on her terms. At 32 she’s made a major Power Player’s move and cancelled a national tour to promote her latest album.
The Nantucket native’s career is a sampler of serious talents, both professional and personal. This summer, Meghan Trainor is staging her priorities, shifting her focus from fans to family.
Often criticized for being anti-feminist, “She” thinks Trainor’s choice is a throughly modern bad-ass, power play and deserves a round of off-stage applause.
Meghan grabbed center-stage in her family’s church choir at 6 years old. She’s been rocking our culture ever since.
Writing songs, creating arrangements and singing back-up for cover-bands, Trainor imagined her professional path would forever-be behind the scenes. In 2014 her big eyes, tight clothes and a whole-lotta curve-appeal amplified the autobiographical break-out success of ” All About the Bass” , a landmark song on the soundtrack of her life story.

The pop-doo-woop tune resonated with round-bottomed women everywhere who heard in the lyrics a note of encouragement rather than judgement. Trainor began touring the nation with a bold collection of flirty productions, delivering sound advice for women of all ages. Her signature stanzas of self-acceptance were and remain “all about the women.”
Last month, the formerly zoftig-one announced she was cancelling this summer’s national tour of “Get In Girl”, her latest musical score. Balancing the release of her new “Toy With Me” album, the tour, and welcoming a new baby girl into the family of five was becoming too much to handle. ” I need to be home and present for all of them at this time. ”

“I know this is the right decision for my family and me right now. I’ll be back soon.”

Once defined by insecurities Meghan Trainor’s cancellation of her tour is all about empowerment. To be sure ending the multi-city engagement creates a complex mess for her business plan.

But, for the maturing woman of agency, her less glam choice to live life on her own terms is a Power Player’s move worthy of celebration by other bad-ass women who want to have it all and realize sometimes having it all comes in off-stage stages.
