The Spirits of Marblehead’s Jeremiah Lee’s Mansion

In Marblehead, Massachusetts it’s typical for Townies and tourists to wander ‘old-towne’ soaking in a heady mix of Colonial life and freshly salted air. The seaside community boasts of playing a role in the China Trade, the American Revolution and being home to the inspirational painting ‘The Spirit of 76’

Around the corner from museums that document American history, modern-day manse of all styles define one of Boston’s most posh bedroom-communities. The nexus creates a picturesque sampler of old and new natural-wonders.

Townies and travelers from distant places seem never to tire of discovering grand-rooms and little nooks where old salts mingle with new souls. That atmosphere set the stage for a super-natural event at the Jeremiah Lee Mansion, a landmark on the National Register.

A research team from Boston Paranormal Investigators was asked by Directors of the Mansion to confirm or rule-out countless claims made by tour-guides and visitors that the historic site is haunted. Legends swirl across Marblehead of Spirits, but the Museum wanted evidence they live at the Lee Mansion.

Paranormal Investigators set-up equipment around the Landmark known to have hosted Marquis de Lafayette and General George Washington. A thorough documentation required several nights of research.

The team confirmed,161 Washington Street is haunted. For them evidence of paranormal activity included shifting electronic grids, inexplicable wall-knocks, and videotapes of apparitions wandering around the house. They consider these supernatural events to be windows into the past from the imprinted energies of disembodied spirits, echos of traumatic events and multi-verse cross-overs.

It was difficult for Investigators to say who’s been haunting Jeremiah Lee’s family home, but the team is convinced ghosts have been busted!

On June1st, the Paranormal Investigators returned to Marblehead to be part of a docent-lead tour around the Lee. The evening was intended to demonstrate how the Investigators work.

As the tour was concluding, an Investigator placed ambient sound-cancelling headphones on her head to tune-into imprinted energies. She welcomed guests to pose questions to Spirits in the room. As she intercepted their voices, she echoed messages from the other side.

After a few generic questions, a neighborhood woman asked “Are you here for anyone in particular?”

In a distinctively loud voice the Investigator said:

” AMBER”.

Stunned, the Marbleheader said, “I’m AMBER”. ” Are you my grandmother?”

The room of surprised docents, investigators and other guests collectively gasped.

The woman continued, ‘My grandmother’s birthday was yesterday, are your my Gigi? ” but no reply was heard.

The spirited demonstration ended in a hush and a rush.

Amber Raye

Amber describes herself as someone fascinated by paranormal activity. She grew-up listening to her great-grandmother Gigi, from French-Lick Indiana, tell her spirited stories of Salem’s Merchant Hotel. Collecting chestnuts together throughout the 80’s and 90’s Gigi’s stories continued and Amber’s passion for the paranormal grew.

The duo shared a psychic-bond that Amber describes as joyous. Since Gigi’s passing 25 years ago, happy memories of simple pleasures allow Amber to visit her great-grandmother’s unassuming soul. A precious antique jewelry box, a wedding band and a century-old family Bible are sentimental portals for the modern-day Marblehead-er to access Gigi’s contagious love of spirituality.

When a spirit shares anything, whether a story or secret about their life, it’s sacred, They’re trusting you.”  These treasures give me “a profound sense of realization that love never dies and that life is short and precious.”

In her day-to-day life Amber remains mindful of living in this world but, on occasion, she’s reassured she’s on the right path when she unexpectedly comes across a chestnut or sees a cardinal. She considers these messages from departed loved-ones that they’re near-by.

Prior to visiting the Lee Mansion demonstration Amber told her partner how intensely she misses her great-grandmother and longs to hear Gigi’s voice again. He was one of the guests who witnessed the Boston Paranormal Investigator say Amber’s name.

At the end of the demonstration he sat next to her; incredulous. Moved to tears Amber said to the crowd “I know in the pit of my soul that was her.”

This was not the night Directors, docents or guests of the Lee Mansion anticipated. The group expected to share an evening soaking in a  heady-mix of Colonial life and salted-air natural wonders. Instead, the collected souls experienced a super-natural event in a Registered National Landmark.

On that Saturday night in Marblehead, Boston Paranormal Investigators hosted two known spirits; a Townie and a traveler from a distant place. They documented something inspirational, ‘The Spirit of Love.’  Amber said this is a gift is one she’ll NEVER forget.

When the modern-day Marbleheader attends paranormal events she goes with an open-mind and no expectation of seeing or hearing anything. But now, she’s considering making an appointment with a medium hoping to hear more from Gigi.

Stay tuned!
