No one would confuse the White House Rose Garden with a fashion-week runway.  However, the sartorial style of First Ladies have been shaping our cultural zeitgeist long before Vogue editor, Anna Wintour, began hiding her aging face behind oversized-shades at catty catwalks.

From 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, and around the globe, the cohort of American First Ladies have used their fashion statements to elevate non-partisan cultural sensibilities for all.  Crafting their image to project confidence, dignity and poise, by design the style of these unelected leaders tends to be approachable with the intention of softening partisan lines

First Lady Melania Trump Launches ‘BE BEST” 5/7/20/17 1600 Pennsylvania Ave,

As ambassadors of the entire Nation, First Ladies are publicly free of political rancor. They focus instead on the universality of what’s ‘best’ for our common-wealth.

One of style-icon Jackie Kennedy’s many contributions to America was to create the White House Rose Garden as an informally elegant expression of the administration’s appreciation for all arts. Nancy Reagan, fashionista gal-pal of trend-setting Betsy Bloomingdale, is credited with broadening awareness of drug abuse with her ‘ Just Say No‘ campaign.  And, when she resumes her role as First Lady, former model, Melania Trump’s intention is to inspire people of all ages to “Be Best” in anyway that enriches humanity academically, psychologically or professionally.

If it’s true a picture is worth a thousand words the image of White House residents plays a powerful role as a snapshot of our social aspirations at home and internationally.  At the second Inauguration of President Donald J. Trump on Monday, January 20th, 2025 our Nation will pause to recognize a new beginning. A spotlight on Melania Trump’s sartorial style will represent our Nation with an understated sense of confident optimism and promote what’s best about the fundaments of American decency.

As a Nation we can flip the shadowed page on Anna Wintour’s politically divisive Vogue magazine. We don’t need her to explain a single stitch of this fashion statement, together, we can “Be Best”.
