Saturday, August 29th, 2026 tennis fans will pause in recognition of an Olympic gold medal winner and 20 time Grand Slam champion. At 6:30 PM Rodger Federer will be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island.

Although love means nothing in tennis the ceremony inside the understated tennis cathedral will be a love-letter to a man who personifies what’s beloved about the sport played around the globe.

The International Tennis Hall of Fame (ITHOF) was designed in 1880 by architectural firm McKim, Mead and White. It’s shingle-style is one of the best translations of American summer-ing in the world. When you visit the simple ‘love-shack’ you’ll feel it was somehow designed in anticipation of Rodger Federer’s game.  The two are a marriage of marvels.

The rare air of the old building pairs historic esthetics of the gilded age with an appreciation for the sport that’s mindful of an evolving cultural presence. Many speak of Federer’s career with a similar frame of reference.

His casual ways disguise the stamina it took to bounce balls into a legend. There’s no hint of how hard it was to invest time in off-court compromises, crush self-doubts, or defeat the curse of ordinary blisters that won’t play fair.

In a pre-ceremony press conference Rodger said he considers himself fortunate to have been mentored by family, friends and coaches who consistently helped develop and reset his dreams.

Federer’s legacy will include more than stories of great matches. It will also recognize his commitment to shape tennis’ eco-system. His initiatives significantly increased prize money ensuring early-round players were also paid to play. RF supported development of facilities that considered comforts for support-staffers and expected the ATP to promote a positive professional environment for all.

Tomorrow, the 45 year old legend will become one of 270 people recognized as a “qually” in the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The guy who says he embraced the pressure of any match and loved the sensation of winning is now determined to help others to dream greatly.

Rodger Federer’s walk onto Center Court at the International Tennis Hall of Fame will be the realization of shared loves.  The kind of love that will live-on to inspire future generations of people around the world to work hard, crush self-doubts and face challenges that don’t play fair.

In Newport, at the International Tennis Hall of Fame that’s the kinda love that means absolutely everything!

Live broadcast of the Induction ceremony will be available on the Tennis Channel or streamed via the their app.
